Llank ;)

If your itching to make a website and can’t think of anything, maybe try one of these ideas. These website ideas are far from original but still profitable because the originals were so damn good. Here is the list of 5 sites that have been there done that and waiting for you to recreate.

Number 5: Pixel Advertising
Famous Website: http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/

Alex Tew’s Famous idea of selling one million pixels for $1 each! He managed to $1,000,000 dollars worth of pixels and this website is forever is legacy. He sold the pixels as advertisements and because of sheer volume the site sold out quickly and the homepage still gets lots of traffic.

What you can do?

Because of the popularity of his website many other websites launched to copy. There are many pixel advertisement scripts out there for pay and for free. I’ve managed to find one free a while back but I can’t remember where. Google is your friend for finding one :) Set up a free pixel advertising website and slap on some Adsense ads

Number 4: Auction Site
Famous Website: http://www.ebay.com

Now who hasn’t heard of Ebay? Well if you haven’t read one of my other article about Ebay! If you aren’t a frequent seller on Ebay than you probably don’t know how much of an ass Ebay has been. Fee raise after raise they have pushed margins for sellers to the thinest. Due to the recent addition of not allowing sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers, a boycott of Ebay has commenced.

What you can do?

Sub-prime auction sites are receiving traffic spikes due to the revolt, thus now is a better time than ever to start your own auction site! To create a successful auction site you need two things: buyers and sellers. Now if you create a generic auction site you will get neither. Find a small niche of Ebay and work your way from there. There are auction scrips available to purchase and mediocre ones for free. Set up your site slap on some ads. Various auction sites have had success with no fees, limited monthly fees, only insertion fees, and only final values. The choice is up to you on this one my young padawan.

Number 3: Pligg Site
Famous Website: http://www.digg.com

Digg is a social news site that displays articles submitted by its users. Stories can be voted on and as stories get popular they get moved to the top of list. So basically Digg sits back and lets users create all their content. Digg is one of the top sites on the internet right now and looking for a sale value around $250-300 million!

What you can do?

There are a TON of different variations of digg around, one for just about anything including p0rn. Now you say if its so saturated already why still try? Saturation is not necessarily a bad thing, one thing it does show is there is a large interest in this market. Would it be better to make the first website of its kind with only 100 people interested or make the 1,000th website with millions of people interested? So if you wanna give it a shot, head on over to http://www.pligg.com. Pligg is a open source digg clone that will help you in your quest. Put on those thinking caps and lets see what pligg you can come up with.

Number 2: Video Site
Famous Website: http://www.youtube.com

Ah wonderful Youtube and it’s Googleness of $1.65 billion(Google bought it for $1.65 billion). Definitely the most popular video website on the web that allows you to upload and view other’s videos. There is one big problem with Youtube though Google hasn’t found a way to make any money off of it yet. They are actually losing money but wait thats where you come in!

What you can do?

Well you can make your own Youtube like site with a free or paid script. But heres the catch, don’t use your bandwidth for videos, use Youtube’s bandwidth! On each Youtube video there is code on the side labeled “embed”. Just take this and it will stream the video from Youtube on your blog/video site. Once again slap on the adsense ads and accumulate traffic.

Number 1: Get paid to website
Famous Website: Too many to list but http://www.treasuretrooper.com is one of the largest and first ones I’ve used.

Get paid to websites are very simple, they are the middlemen between advertisers and users. Advertisers/affiliates will pay sites like Treasuretrooper a rate for a sign up, trial, purchase, etc. The website in return will give a portion of those earnings back to the users. So this is a win win situation for both parties!

What you can do?

Now this one is a little more complicated in terms of setup. I’ve yet to find just plain scripts to accomplish the job. However the basic logic for site is to create site, sign up for affiliates, track sign ups, pay users. Sounds easy right? Well there will be a few hurdles like attracting a user base and setting up the actual site but the rewards are endless on this one. Well what are you waiting for go start something today!

Well that completes this article of 5 website ideas. Don’t forget when your site starts trickling in traffic Adsense will not be the only source of income. I’ll discuss more income options in a later article, but for now so long!

Yes, I do think your opinion is righteous. (So do lots of people). Luckily majority of people are intelligent :).
