So your blog is set up, you’ve written a few articles and can’t find readers. What do you do now? Well there are many blogging directories out there that will list your blog for free. Of course I don’t expect the traffic from these sites to be very large but every bit counts.
Remember building traffic is not a hit or miss, its going to take time and effort. Now why did I list this as a part 1 or 2? I’m gonna do an experiment to see how much traffic these blog directories can actually provide. Approximately a month from now I’ll write part 2 and review my results!
Here were the top 5 sites I found using Google and Alexa:
- Tries to combine social network aspects with blog directories. This is one of the most popular sites for blog directories so I decided to give this one a shot first.
- Combines a top list with a blog directory. Top list sites have been around for a longtime but this one seems to be very popular.
- This is a unique one that is an online magazine with blog listings. They will take your RSS feed from your blog and put it into their “Wikizines” if they fit.
- Site has a few tools for blogs and a nice top list. Sign up was simple and easy so lets see if it brings any hits. One thing I found funny is when submitting they have a disclaimer for no gambling sites but in the categories they list “Gambling.”
- A good looking blog directory site but one thing bugged me. There was no astrics over password when I was signing up!
Alright on top of these I also created a list of other blog directory sites in approximate order of their Alexa rank. I decided to go a broad range of site ranks since llank is relatively new. Some might call it “being a small fish in a large pond or big fish in a small pond.” The numbers next to some sites were their Alexa rank when I searched them. I plan on submitting llank to every one of these directories:
