I can’t take the credit on this one, it was from akdiver on Digitalpoint forums and I just wanted to share his favorite SEO technique.
One of the most important pieces of gaining more readers and traffic is search engine optimization. If your site can’t be found than no one will come, simple as that.
What we will try to do is look for high ranking keywords that are less competitive. I’ll cater this example to a money making site
1.)Go to http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com or https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
I chose to use Google’s since we’ll most likely be optimizing for Google anyways. We will look for keywords relating to your website that are not too long and not too competitive. Searching for the term “making money money” we are returned with 110,000 daily searches. The money making sector is a saturated and a term with large volumes will be difficult to compete with. Lets move down the list and write down a few that have lower search volumes such as:
“make money online with” - 320 daily searches
“make money online without paying” - 480 daily searches
“making money online made easy”- 210 daily searches

Alright this might be a little off topic but I thought this was interesting and low balling even for Best Buy:
Linux for only $19.99
Only problem is….. Yes you are right! Linux is FREE. Oh Oh and they can have their awesome Geek Squad install it for only an additional $129.99. Seems like Best Buy is trying to sell something free for money? First time in history thats done right? *cough Bottled *cough Water.
Too F-in bad Best Buy that we will not be trixied by your silly marketing and for those of us that don’t know better here you go to download your free copy of Ubuntu Linux .
To finish it off -
“Ubuntu will always be free to download, free to use and free to distribute to others. With these goals in mind, Ubuntu aims to be the most widely used Linux system, and is the centre of a global open source software ecosystem.” -Ubuntu.com

If you haven’t notice we switched themes! Partly because it was getting a little old but also since it did not work in Internet Explorer(the devil) 6.0! Oh and if you haven’t already the new kickass Firefox 3.0 is out so go get it!
When I was testing the initial theme, it worked in both Firefox and IE 7.0 perfectly but I totally forgot about IE 6.0! Although its an older version the demographics of users seem pretty high. On our sites it still holds about 10% or so and each and every one of you is important to us :) Here is an IE tab plugin for us awesome Firefox users!
If you want to test further on different browsers/platforms:
Sorry guys I left you hanging and without a notice. Somewhere in between all of April till now the motivation just got swept under the table to blog. I’ve visited the site plenty of times just to look and see, but it saddens me that I gave up.
So here I am again posting/complaining/explaining all at once that I’m down but not out.
I won’t be the first to do it and surely not the last but why does this happen? People run out of ideas to write, motivation to write or the site just didn’t show any potential. You put all this work into it and in the end no one comes to read what you have to say. We’ll I’ve read before that its not what you post on your blog its what you don’t that defines your blog. I’m here to scratch that and say post whatever the hell you want and its better than not posting at all!
Nate and I will be here to stay and posts will keep flowing! Good news is I’ve had quite some time to decide about all the topics to write and they will come shortly so stay posted
I know I know… but trust me once more k k?
If you are one that gave up on your blog as well maybe its a time to renew it just like me. Its never too late so give it a shot.

So your blog is set up, you’ve written a few articles and can’t find readers. What do you do now? Well there are many blogging directories out there that will list your blog for free. Of course I don’t expect the traffic from these sites to be very large but every bit counts.
Remember building traffic is not a hit or miss, its going to take time and effort. Now why did I list this as a part 1 or 2? I’m gonna do an experiment to see how much traffic these blog directories can actually provide. Approximately a month from now I’ll write part 2 and review my results!
Here were the top 5 sites I found using Google and Alexa:

So this is what my Universities business school’s parking ramp is like:

What was I thinking when I chose Comp Sci over this?
Lets go over the cars from left to right:
Bmw M3, Acura Tsx, Porsche Cayenne S, Bmw M3, Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
I understand that its no Ferrari or anything but I have rough estimate about 250-300k worth of cars in those 5 parking spots. Now don’t bite its a rough estimate. Alright have a great April Fools day and no this wasn’t a joke.

P2p loans are a relatively new investment that is gaining traction. Prosper and Lending Club are some of the major players in this market. So what are they and how do you make money?
According to Prosper : “Prosper is an online community for lending and borrowing money. Bidding on borrowers’ loans, lenders get great returns by offering great rates.”
The Interest rates on Prosper go from anywhere to 6% to 30%. Their current average rate is advertised at 9.49-12.81%
Alright theres gotta be a catch right?
Lenders have to pay an annual loan-servicing fee based on grade of loan, this fee ranges from .5% to 1%. Lenders are also responsible for collection agency recovery fees on any loans that are more than a month late. This collection fee can range from 7.35% to 20% of the amount recovered.
The major risk on Prosper is the chance a loan will default or payments are made late. Loans that default can be sold off for a discount (sometimes as low as pennies on the dollar). This depends on the credit grade of the loan and once late, loans are turned over to a collection agency. As default rates increase, credit grade decreases; however, as credit grade decreases, interest rates increase. That should be obvious, as more risk should entitle higher rewards.
Another problem with Prosper and other P2P lending markets is the liquidity of loans. The only way to take money out of Prosper is to wait for the borrower to make payments on loans, which are over a three-year period. Just as this isn’t enough just to remind you that Prosper is taxed as ordinary income, which means up to 35% in Federal income tax

Whether I like to admit it or not I’ve made mistakes and I’m guessing you have too. Sometimes the money at the end of the light can sever your good judgment. This article is to help you put it all back into perspective when the greed overcomes your senses. I’m going to try and speak from my experiences and what I’ve learned so far.
From selling online items in Diablo 2, making how to make money cds, selling on Ebay, and making websites money spoke. Even in my younger days just selling items in Diablo 2 I let greed blindsight my good judgement. I decided on purchasing bulk of 100 stone of jordans at the time which was approximately $1000(at 13 years old it was a hefty sum). After the purchase I was scammed with a stolen credit card and never recovered funds(Thanks Paypal!). I knew there were risks in buying and selling online items but in my younger days I didn’t know better.
Lesson learned: Take it one step at a time. It would have probably been safe if I bought and sold low quantities but to try and make the big bucks I took bad risks.
Everything you see sold on Ebay is not necessarily legal. Just because there is a guy selling it doesn’t mean its alright for you to sell it too. I’ve learned that the hard way. Looking for a solution manual for one of my classes I stumbled my way onto Ebay(gasps! Yes I know, I know). I managed to find many solution manuals and it looked very profitable at the time. So I did some research purchased several manuals and began to sell. Business was great, every few hours we logged a few sales and money was rolling in. What happened? Well lets just say there are copywrite laws in selling solutions and publishers aren’t very fond of Ebay sellers. After some scary lawyer phone calls and emails we had a hard lesson learned.
Lession Learned: Just because someone else is doing it doesn’t mean you should too. Quite obvious right? Lets hope it is for you.

If your itching to make a website and can’t think of anything, maybe try one of these ideas. These website ideas are far from original but still profitable because the originals were so damn good. Here is the list of 5 sites that have been there done that and waiting for you to recreate.

Number 5: Pixel Advertising
Famous Website: http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/
Alex Tew’s Famous idea of selling one million pixels for $1 each! He managed to $1,000,000 dollars worth of pixels and this website is forever is legacy. He sold the pixels as advertisements and because of sheer volume the site sold out quickly and the homepage still gets lots of traffic.
What you can do?
Because of the popularity of his website many other websites launched to copy. There are many pixel advertisement scripts out there for pay and for free. I’ve managed to find one free a while back but I can’t remember where. Google is your friend for finding one
Set up a free pixel advertising website and slap on some Adsense ads
